Musica Florea

On May 23 a new Supraphon compact disc was christened. It is the world premiere recording of the St. Wenceslas Vespers by Pavel Josef Vejvanovský with the Boni Pueri choir, soloists, and the Musica Florea orchestra under the baton of Marek Štryncl.

The Musica Florea orchestra was nominated a total of four times in three categories for awards from the prominent Czech music magazine Harmonie for the year 2001: for its recording of Zelenka's musical-dramatic work Sub olea pacis et palma virtutis in the category of Baroque, for the same recording in the category of Best Czech Recording, and for its recording of sacred works by J.C.F. Fischer in the category of Chamber Music.

Late in March Musica Florea undertook a tour of The Netherlands with the Boni Pueri boys' choir and soloists, during which they appeared with great success in a sold-out Concertgebouw in Amsterdam among other venues.

On April 26 and 28 the last two performances were given of the successful production of J.P. Rameau's Baroque opera Castor et Pollux on the stage of the Estates Theater in Prague, in which Musica Florea shared.
